Meet our Instructors

We take pride in our loyal and helpful staff who all have the same philosophy which Gaye used to start PoolSkool.

All instructors teach the structured ASA stages scheme but each customer is treated as an individual. The customers are encouraged to reach their full potential with a fun yet encouraging environment. PoolSkool employs reliable and loyal staff who are genuinely interested in improvement for the individual.

Ian ShawIan Shaw

Sport is a major passion in my life!  With more than 20 years’ experience in the leisure industry and fitness industry.

Water is my element. I have been a lifeguard in South Africa, America, Ireland and England, a SQUBA diver, a triathlete and an open water swimmer. Currently working toward my bucket list of competing in an Ironman.

I believe that swimming is not only a vital life skill, but it complements a range of other sports such as sailing, diving, scuba diving, boating, water skiing, triathlon, as well as enabling you to just enjoy your time round a swimming pool during family holidays.

I believe that you are never too young or too old to learning to swim, my style of teaching is to keep it fun and enjoyable whilst you focus on our swimming technique.
